At the beginning of September I hosted an art and wine event. We called it the English Wine Festival and it was a huge success. Customers loved that they could try new wines and the artist, Val Littlewood (affectionately known as the ‘bee lady’) was a hit.I’ve since listed a selection of hand-picked English wines over at Nathan’s Wine Shop and have had a great response from the industry. James Graham from the website UKvine.com wrote a piece on my efforts…
A South African entrepreneur is determined to raise the game in selling English sparkling wine on the internet.

London-based Nathan Meyers has launched Nathan’s Wine Shop to retail wines in a manner he feels other websites are lacking.
He says: “I’m trying to do with English sparkling wines where very few have succeeded – that’s to showcase the wines on the same level as champagne. Most producers are still selling their wines through dedicated English wine retailers and I think that this is a mistake. It gives the customer the impression that these wines aren’t good enough to be sold alongside the best.
“English sparkling wines are aspirational products and should be showcased in this way, which is what I think I’ve achieved at Nathan’s Wine Shop.”
Producers available on his website include: Bolney Estate, Sussex; Giffords Hall, Suffolk; Meopham Valley Vineyard, Kent; and Coates & Seely, Hampshire.
